About us

  • The IT Solutions Centre was created by transforming the University IT Centre, which has been functioning in the AGH University since year 1979. The change of the name, structure and role took place on the 1st of August 2020 by the decision of the AGH Rector and was prompted by the need to adjust the unit to the current needs of the University.
  • As a result of the reorganisation of the AGH University's IT related units, since the 31st of March 2023 the IT Solutions Centre is an auxiliary unit, being a part of the administrative centre group within the central administration according to the AGH Organisational Regulations, incorporated within the IT Sector.
  • The IT Solutions Centre is managed by the Director, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer.
  • The internal structure of the IT Solutions Centre is defined by the Chief Information Officer depending on the circumstances and needs. The IT Solutions Centre's structure is subject to approval by the Rector in terms of establishment of internal units in accordance with the Organisational Regulations.
  1. Director is responsible for the functioning of the IT Solutions Centre in all aspects of its operation. The Director's main tasks are as follows:
    • management of the IT Solutions Centre as an AGH organisational unit, as prescribed by law, including the internal law of the AGH University, taking into account the authority granted by the Rector,
    • creation of task execution plans for the IT Solutions Centre,
    • organisation of the IT Solution Centre's day-to-day operations and management of employees and material resources assigned to the unit,
    • organisational and substantive supervision of the implementation of the IT Solutions Centre's tasks, monitoring the completion of basic objectives,
    • presentation of yearly reports on the IT Solutions Centre's operations to the Chief Information Officer,
    • taking the role of the Administrator of IT Systems in terms of the Information Security Policy.
  2. The IT Solutions Centre Director, in particular:
    • is the direct supervisor of all the IT Solutions Centre's employees,
    • submits proposals to the Chief Information Officer on matters of employment and changes in the terms and conditions of contracts of subordinate employees,
    • is the disposer of funds provided in the material and financial plan of the AGH University for the implementation of the tasks of the IT Solutions Centre, within the scope of the Rector's authorisation,
    • is responsible for the organisation of the unit's functioning in accordance with the rules set forth by law, including in particular the Statute, resolutions of the Senate and orders of the Rector,
    • is responsible for the preparation of the draft of the IT Solution Centre's material and financial plan and its implementation,
    • plans and oversees a rational usage of the office space,
    • supervises the timely implementation of findings, decisions and applicable reporting.
  • planning the advancement and supporting the exploitation of systems supporting the AGH University information services,
  • maintenance and development of the University's IT environment consisting of server and network infrastructure along with software solutions,
  • cooperation with the Chancellor's Division in implementing IT tasks into the University's investment plan and participating in their execution,
  • determination of guidelines and creation of rules, advancement and exploitation of IT infrastructure in organisational units,
  • maintaining the University's primary IT and information systems (including systems that process personal data) and administering the central IT infrastructure in accordance with the AGH Information Security Policy,
  • providing advice, training, technical support, data storage services,
  • ensuring ICT security of the supervised and operated systems,
  • determination of rules for access and use of the University Computer Network,
  • providing opinions on the acquisition of software by other units for the purposes of their operations,
  • assisting the University's organizational units in maintaining and improving infrastructure,
  • provision of technical maintenance services for software and hardware for all organisational units, on the basis of internal settlements between units; provision of other services in the IT area.
