Network settings in Windows

Correct configuration of network connections in the operating system is crucial when it comes to security, as well as their proper functioning and using the Internet.

Any settings other than default may cause, e.g. issues with Internet access or pose a security risk for the data stored on the computer.

For this reason, we recommend verifying your settings and adjusting them according to the instructions below:

  1. In the Windows search, look for "View network connections".
  1. Find the network adapter responsible for the Internet connection (it is usually called "Ethernet"). Click onto its name with the right mouse button and select "Properties".
  1. In the "Networking" tab select "Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click the "Properties" button.
  1. In the "General" tab, the options "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" should already be selected. If they are not, select them and press "OK".
